Yes, I've been following that case. Very very scary, and I fear the police may win when it goes to court.

California Franchise Tax
I live in California - and I want to setup a LLC in New Mexico with a Canary Islands address. The business I am creating is a online business based on advertisiments, votes, donations, t-shirt sales etc. Its all online.
Do I still have to pay the pathetic California Franchise Tax even if I don't do any of the work here in my state - but online?
Also can I count my office as a deductable - even though I am using a computer in California to ftp my work to a web site in New Mexico - where my business is?
...
NM LLCs do not require the CA franchise tax UNLESS you voluntarily register it in CA. As to the rest, please check with a CA tax expert.

WAMU follow up
Someone had previously mentioned they disliked Washinton Mutual. I was wondering if that was due to privacy issues or just general incompetance which seems to be prevalent everywhere today?
...
(From the CA lawyer:) "That was me. I dislike them due to general arrogance and incompetence. A
routine probate transaction which Bank of America and Citibank handled
in days took WAMU four months. I am not alone in my assessment either -
most probate and trust lawyers I know hate dealing with them due to
their bureaucracy and incompetence."

Stewart's 6-27 post on Toll Free Numbers
" Is it possible to obtain a toll free number without an identifying s.s. or fed. number? "
Yes it is quite simple to get a TFN through at least one service (I have called them their setup is inexpensive and they offer a veriety of options)
The company is ATG Technologies and their # is 1-800-775-7790
Make sure you dont call from your home landline as it is a tollfree number you are calling and they would have that pesky CID

PT
When I Googled PT, this came up: http://www.offshore-manual.com/PerpetualTraveler.html but on Amazon.com I could not get any hits with any of the permutations of PT. Could you recommend any books on this? Thanks! (great new site)

I think you refer to the famous PT book by the late Bill Hill, along with a later book, PT2. Each costs $100. I bought both of them in the 1990s.

Camera Surveillance
An article about traffic cameras. But they are not just for traffic violations anymore. "There have been occasions when federal officials have asked Redflex to review its videotapes for information that could help identify terrorists."

Pelicano and PGP
Just goes to show that you can have the strongest encryption-unbreakable-but if you use a password that can be found, your information will be found out. I would use three different types of encryption. Each one with an unrelated pass word-better yet use passphrases as you suggest and change them often.

PGP & Pelicano
Looks like Pelicano encrypted all his audio recordings with PGP and it took a year to crack it. I really doubt that - I'm sure they just don't want to admit they did it a lot quicker.

FYI
Hello, Mr. Luna -- first, kudos on your new website. I hope it has met your expectations.
Second, an interesting article was in the latest GQ Magazine (July 06; p. 135): "How to Vanish...Forever."
Finally, this piece may also be of interest:

Gmail delete
I am a soldier in the Middle East. On R and R (leave) here I noticed that my Gmail account had many old messages so I put them in the trash can and pressed "Delete Forever". To my surprise when I went to another internet cafe the trash was full again with all my old messages. So I "deleted forever" again. Two days later online I noticed that they were back! I am military so I should make sure that these messages are deleted just to be professional--obviously there is no important information in them. Could someone please tell me how to really delete forever these messages? I wonder about Gmail. I would sleep much better and believe me here good sleep is the ultimate luxury.
...
Sorry, but GMail does not delete them forever. In fact, the model that Google has
followed with the email is that they eventually intend on selling your habitual information (sends
email at 3am, talks about privacy and conspiracies, and talks about the X-files way too much -
Which means he works 2nd or 3rd shift and is probably working in computers). Conclusion: it is OK to accept messages on GMail, but not to reply to them on GMail.

Mr. Luna,
Recently, I accidently was able to check on your response regarding trust accounts. Although the trust account name appears in all likey places - - statement printouts, checks, etc. - - the computer system the bank indeed uses has the trust registered under the NAME and SSN of the TRUSTEE!
...
Which is what I said. Ah, ye of little faith! :-)
